Crestor 20 mg 28 Tablets
A cholesterol-lowering drug that acts by inhibiting the enzyme HMG- MoA reductase. Inhibition of this enzyme leads to the depletion of cholesterol precursors. Due to the falling level of cholesterol in the hepatocytes, the liver compensates by increasing catabolism and uptake of LDL and inhibits the synthesis of VLDL.
Indications:
• Primary hypercholesterolemia.
• Prevention of cardiovascular events.
Points of interest:
• Avoid grapefruit juice as it could increase the chance of side effects occurring.
• Seek medical advice if you experience dark urine, muscle pain, or weakness.
• Take this drug at bedtime.
How to use:

Active Ingredients:

Side effects:
• Myalgia.
• Mild transient GI symptoms.
• Headache.
• Elevated liver enzyme concentrations and creatine kinase.
Cautions:
• Proteinuria has been observed.
• Effects on skeletal muscles have been reported.
• Reporting rate for rhabdomyolysis associated with rosuvastatin use is higher at 40 mg.
• Effects on skeletal muscles have been reported.
• Contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure.
Interactions:
• Dronaderon: plasma concentration of rosuvastatin is increased by dronaderon.
• Itraconazole: plasma concentration of rosuvastatin is increased by itraconazole.
• Colchicine: the risk of myopathy is possibly increased when rosuvastatin is given with colchicines.
