Merional Injection 75 IU (1+1) 1Pack
Human menopausal gonadotrophin(HMG)
• Merional is a medicine that is used in female infertility and male infertility.
• Merional contains a hormone called human menopausal gonadotrophin(HMG).
• Merional works by helping the reproductive organs in both males and females work normally.
• It provides follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) that help stimulate healthy ovaries to make eggs.
• This medication is usually used in combination with another hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin-hCG) to help you become pregnant by bringing about the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation).
Active ingredients:
Menotrophin.
Benefits:
• In females: To induce follicular maturation during the management of infertility caused by the failure of the ovaries to produce eggs (anovulatory infertility).
• In in-vitro fertilization (test tube) procedures or other assisted conception techniques to induce multiple follicular developments.
• In males: To treat poor sperm count (oligospermia).
How To Use:
• Before mixing, the powder may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated (2°C-25°C / 36°F-77°F) away from light and moisture until the expiration date. Use immediately after mixing.
• Discard any unused portion of the vial.
• Merional is intended for intramuscular and subcutaneous administration.
• The powder should be reconstituted immediately before use with the solvent provided.
Side Effects:
• The use of Merional may cause harmful overstimulation of the ovaries.
• If you experience pain or swelling of the abdomen, weight gain, difficulty breathing, increased thirst, decreased urine output, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, tell your doctor immediately.
• Very rarely, allergic reactions have been reported after treatment.
Contraindications:
Merional should not be administered to children or to patients who have:
• Hypersensitivity to the active substance menotrophin or any of the excipients
• Tumors of the hypothalamus or pituitary gland.
and to females who have:
• Ovarian enlargement or a cyst not due to polycystic ovarian disease
• Gynecological hemorrhages of unknown cause.
• Ovarian, uterine, or mammary carcinoma.
Merional should not be used when an effective response cannot be achieved, such as:
In females:
• Primary ovarian failure.
• Malformation of sexual organs incompatible with pregnancy.
• Fibroid tumors of the uterus incompatible with pregnancy.
In males:
• Primary testicular insufficiency.
Cautions:
• Merional is a potent gonadotrophin capable of causing mild to severe adverse reactions and should only be used by physicians who are thoroughly experienced with infertility problems and their management. To minimize the risks of Ovarian.
• Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) or of multiple pregnancies, ultrasound scans as well as oestradiol measurements are recommended.
Gonadotrophin therapy requires a certain time commitment by physicians and supportive health professionals as well as the availability of appropriate monitoring facilities.
• In females, safe and effective use of Merional calls for monitoring of ovarian response with ultrasound alone or preferably in combination with measurement of serum oestradiol levels regularly.
• There may be a degree of interpatient variability in response to menotropins administration with a poor response in some cases.
• The lowest effective dose about the treatment objective should be used in both men and women.
• Merional should not be administered as a mixture with other medicinal products in the same injection.
Drugs Interactions:
• Concomitant use of Merional with other agents used to stimulate ovulation (e.g. hCG, clomiphene citrate) may potentiate the follicular response, whereas concurrent use of GnRH agonists to induce pituitary suppression may increase the dosage of Merional needed to elicit an adequate ovarian response.
• No other clinically significant drug interactions have been reported.
