Terbinafine
Terbinafine interferes specifically with fungal sterol biosynthesis at an early stage. This leads to a deficiency in ergosterol and an intracellular accumulation of squalene, resulting in fungal cell death. Terbinafine acts by inhibiting squalene epoxidase in the fungal cell membrane.
Indications:
• Tinea pedis (athlete's foot) and tinea cruris, (dhobi (jock) itch), ringworm infections caused by
• Trichophyton (e.g. T. rubrum,T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum)
• Epidermophyton floccosum
Active Ingredient:
Terbinafine.
Side effects:
• Burning
• Irritation
• Itching at the application site may occur
• Redness
• Peeling
• Dryness
Cautions:
• hypersensitivity to cream.
• It is not known whether terbinafine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby.
How to use:
Lamisil is applied once daily, for one week.
Cleanse and dry the affected areas thoroughly before applying Lamisil.
In severe cases can be used twice daily.
